Granulosa
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005001
The somatic cell layer lining the antral follicle in the ovary, surrounding the oocyte. These cells produce hormones, including estrogens and inhibin, and growth factors that are necessary for follicular development and oocyte maturation. Following ovulation, granulosa cells differentiate into the large luteal cells of the corpus luteum.
