Granuloma
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005000
A localized collection of immune cells, primarily macrophages, that forms in response to persistent inflammatory stimuli or foreign bodies that cannot be eliminated. These structures are a hallmark of chronic inflammation and serve to wall off the offending agent. Lymphocytes and fibroblasts often surround the central macrophage aggregation.
