Autophobicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000998

The phenomenon where a liquid does not spread on a solid surface that has been pre-coated with a layer of the same liquid. This behavior indicates that the liquid has a higher surface tension than the surface energy of its own adsorbed layer. It is observed in certain polymer melts and surfactant solutions.
