Axialite
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001039
A multilayer crystalline aggregate in which lamellar crystals fan out from one shared edge, giving a sheaf-like object. It is anisotropic, unlike the spherulite, in which lamellae radiate from a point in all directions, and it is seen in polymers such as polyethylene crystallized from the melt at low supercooling.
