Degree of supercooling

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002953

The difference between the equilibrium melting temperature of a crystalline polymer and the actual temperature at which crystallization begins. This phenomenon occurs when a liquid polymer cools below its freezing point without solidifying. A larger degree of supercooling generally leads to a higher nucleation rate and smaller crystallite sizes.
