Azoxy compounds

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001058

A class of organic compounds containing the azoxy functional group, which consists of a nitrogen-nitrogen double bond with one of the nitrogen atoms oxidized to an N-oxide (-N=N(O)-). These compounds are often formed by the oxidation of azo compounds or the reduction of nitro compounds. They can exhibit cis-trans isomerism.
