Biomonitoring type 3

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001306

A form of biological monitoring that assesses effects on organisms, for example through biochemical markers in sentinel species or other measures of reduced fitness or condition in individuals. It differs from type 2, which measures accumulated contaminant, and from type 1, which examines community change. It is the third of four types of biomonitoring distinguished in ecotoxicology.
