Biomonitoring type 1

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001304

A form of biological monitoring that determines community changes along a pollution gradient, or among sites that differ in their level of pollution, by comparing the organisms present at each site. It is the first of four types of biomonitoring distinguished in ecotoxicology, the others covering bioaccumulation, effects on individual organisms and genetically based resistance.
