Bystander suppression
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001556
A mechanism of immune regulation where regulatory T cells, activated by specific antigens in one tissue, can suppress immune responses to different antigens in the same or adjacent tissues. This process contributes to the maintenance of immunological tolerance and prevents excessive inflammation. It is a form of antigen-nonspecific suppression that occurs in the local microenvironment.
