Caesarian section
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001563
A surgical operation that delivers a baby through cuts made in the abdomen and the uterus, used when vaginal birth would put mother or child at risk or is otherwise medically indicated. The name probably derives from the Latin verb caedere, to cut, and the popular story that Julius Caesar was born this way is doubted, since his mother lived long after his birth.
