Caenorhabditis elegans
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001562
A free-living, transparent nematode widely used as a model organism in biological research, particularly in neurobiology, developmental biology, and genetics. Its fully mapped nervous system, consisting of exactly 302 neurons, and its short life cycle make it ideal for studying neurotoxic effects and neural network function. This organism is approximately 1 mm in length.
