Carbon fibres type IM
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001641
A class of carbon fibres with an intermediate Young's modulus of roughly 275 to 350 GPa, stiffer than type HT yet with comparable tensile strength. Most are made from polyacrylonitrile precursor fibres. Their filaments are thinner than HT ones, typically about 5 micrometres in diameter.
