Cationized molecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001748
An ion formed when a cation such as Na+, K+ or NH4+ associates with a neutral molecule M, giving the sodium, potassium or ammonium adduct ion of M. It is distinct from a protonated molecule, which forms by proton addition rather than by attachment of another cation. Such adducts are frequent in electrospray and MALDI spectra of molecules that lack basic sites.
