Dimeric ion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003225
An ion made of two molecular units, formed either when a species that exists as a dimer in the vapor is ionized and detected intact, or when a molecular ion attaches to a neutral molecule of the same kind in the ion source, giving a radical cation such as M2+. Proton-bound dimers, written (2M + H)+, are common examples in chemical ionization and electrospray mass spectra.
