Chemical activation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001934
The process by which a molecule gains sufficient internal energy through a chemical reaction to overcome an activation barrier and undergo further reaction or decomposition. This energy is typically released from the exothermic formation of new bonds within the nascent product molecule. The activated molecule can then react further or be stabilized by collisions.
