Chemical flux
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001946
A kinetic quantity giving the rate at which one reaction step converts material in one direction only, such as the forward step of a reversible reaction, expressed as a change of concentration per unit time. The net rate of change of a species is the sum of the fluxes forming it minus the sum of the fluxes removing it. At dynamic equilibrium the flux into a species equals the flux out of it, so concentrations stay constant although both fluxes are nonzero.
