Clonal expansion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002128
The rapid proliferation of antigen-specific lymphocytes (B cells or T cells) after encountering their cognate antigen. This process generates a large population of identical cells, or clones, all capable of recognizing and responding to the same specific antigen. It is a fundamental step in mounting an effective adaptive immune response.
