Clonal anergy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002126
A state of unresponsiveness in T lymphocytes or B lymphocytes that have encountered an antigen but did not receive the necessary co-stimulatory signals for full activation. This condition prevents an immune response to self-antigens, contributing to immunological tolerance. Anergic cells are unable to proliferate or differentiate into effector cells upon subsequent antigen exposure.
