Clonal indifference
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002129
A state where lymphocytes, despite recognizing a self-antigen, do not mount an immune response because the antigen concentration or presentation is below the threshold required for activation. These cells are not deleted or anergized but remain functionally inert. This mechanism contributes to self-tolerance, particularly for antigens present at low levels.
