Coaxial reflectron
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002162
A type of ion mirror in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer where the electrostatic field is applied parallel to the ion flight path. This design allows for the reflection of ions back along the same axis they entered, improving mass resolution by correcting for initial kinetic energy differences. It is a common component in modern time-of-flight mass spectrometers.
