Combined sample

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002274

A sample obtained by separating specific fractions of the material, for example by sieving or by heavy-liquid or magnetic separation, analysing each fraction separately, and then combining the results mathematically to give a value for the whole material. The fractions are not physically remixed before analysis. It differs from a composite sample, which is a physical mixture of several samples and is analysed as one.
