Compton electron
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002346
An electron that has gained kinetic energy and recoiled after an inelastic collision with a photon, as described by the Compton effect. This electron is ejected from its atomic orbital due to the energy transfer from the incident photon. The energy of the Compton electron is equal to the energy difference between the incident and scattered photons.
