Corpus callosum

A broad, thick band of myelinated nerve fibers located beneath the cerebral cortex that connects the left and right cerebral hemispheres. It serves as the primary communication pathway for integrating motor, sensory, and cognitive information between the two sides of the brain. The human corpus callosum contains approximately 200 to 250 million contralateral axonal projections.
