Decidual cell

A specialized stromal cell of the endometrium that undergoes morphological and biochemical changes during decidualization. These cells accumulate lipids and glycogen, contributing to the nutritional support of the early embryo. They also secrete hormones and growth factors that regulate placental development and maternal immune responses.
