Degradable macromolecule

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002929

A macromolecule whose chemical structure can be broken down into smaller molecules under specific environmental conditions, such as exposure to light, heat, water, or biological agents. This property is designed into the polymer for applications requiring controlled breakdown or environmental disposal. Polylactic acid is an example of a degradable macromolecule.
