Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002937

The number of surfactant ions in one micelle, also called the aggregation number, counted without regard to where the counterions sit. More generally, the term also denotes the fraction of molecules of a substance that are present as associated species such as dimers, a dimensionless value between 0 and 1. For many ionic surfactants the aggregation number lies between about 20 and 100.
