Delayed luminescence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002966
Luminescence that decays more slowly than the lifetime of the emitting state alone would predict, because that state is repopulated over time. Mechanisms include triplet-triplet annihilation, thermally activated return from a triplet to the emitting singlet, and charge recombination. Ordinary phosphorescence is not included, since its decay simply follows the long lifetime of the emitting triplet state.
