Deoxyribonucleic acid mismatch
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003014
A defect in double-stranded DNA in which the helix contains one or more base pairs other than the standard A-T and G-C Watson-Crick pairs, such as A-C, G-T, A-G or C-T. Mismatches arise from replication errors, deamination or recombination, and they are detected and corrected by mismatch repair. The same term describes a probe or primer base that does not pair with its template.
