Devolatilizer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003111
An additive that lowers the volatilization of a whole sample or of one of its components, so that the analyte is not lost or fractionated before it is atomized or excited. It acts opposite to an additive that promotes volatilization. Palladium nitrate added in graphite furnace atomic absorption, which lets volatile analytes survive higher ashing temperatures, works in this way.
