Thermal volatilization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011950
The process by which a substance is converted into a gaseous state by heating, without undergoing chemical decomposition. This technique is often used in analytical chemistry to introduce solid samples into an analytical instrument, such as in glow-discharge optical emission spectroscopy. The rate of volatilization depends on temperature and the vapor pressure of the substance.
