Diencephalon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003157
The posterior part of the prosencephalon (forebrain) that connects the midbrain with the telencephalon. It is composed of the thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus, and subthalamus, which collectively manage sensory information, autonomic functions, and endocrine control. The hypothalamus, a major structure within the diencephalon, serves as the primary link between the nervous system and the endocrine system through its connection to the pituitary gland.
