Disturbance

An event or force that causes a change in an ecological system, altering its structure, composition, or function. These events can be natural, such as floods or wildfires, or anthropogenic, such as pollution or habitat destruction. The impact of a disturbance depends on its intensity, frequency, and the resilience of the affected ecosystem.
