Electron-rich molecule

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003762

A molecule or a part of a molecule containing atoms or functional groups that readily donate electrons. These species possess high electron density, often due to the presence of lone pairs, pi bonds, or atoms with low electronegativity. In polymer chemistry, electron-rich monomers like aniline or thiophene are used to synthesize conductive polymers, acting as electron donors in charge-transfer complexes.
