Endothermic reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003906
A chemical reaction that absorbs heat from its surroundings, resulting in a positive standard enthalpy of reaction (ΔH° > 0). For the reaction to proceed, energy must be supplied to the system, causing a decrease in the temperature of the immediate environment. The dissolution of ammonium nitrate in water is a common example of an endothermic process.
