  "definition": "A graph of how fast excited molecules are quenched by a series of quenchers, plotted against the excited-state energies of those quenchers, or of a sensitization rate constant against the excited-state energies of different sensitizers. The rate constant stays near the diffusion-controlled limit while the quencher energy lies below that of the excited species and then falls, so the position of the drop estimates the excited-state energy. A Stern-Volmer plot is a different graph, of emission intensity ratio against quencher concentration.",
