Epihalohydrins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004025
Compounds built on the (halomethyl)oxirane skeleton, an epoxide ring bearing a halomethyl group, as in epichlorohydrin and epibromohydrin. Epichlorohydrin is made industrially from allyl chloride, or increasingly from glycerol, and is the main building block of epoxy resins, which form when it reacts with bisphenol A.
