Erythropoietin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004095
A glycoprotein hormone produced primarily by the kidneys that stimulates the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. It regulates erythropoiesis, the process by which red blood cells are formed, in response to tissue hypoxia. This hormone is a key regulator of red blood cell mass and is used therapeutically to treat anemia.
