Evans hole
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004131
A dip or minimum observed in the absorption spectrum of a molecule, resulting from the destructive interference between a broad absorption band and a sharp, intense absorption band. This phenomenon is a type of Fano resonance, where a discrete state interacts with a continuum of states. It is often seen in the vibrational spectra of molecules.
