Exocon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013091
The part of a conjugated metabolite that originates from the parent molecule, that is, from the foreign compound rather than from the natural product of the organism that became attached to it. The natural-product part, such as a sugar or an amino acid, is called the endocon. In a drug glucuronide, the drug-derived part is the exocon and the glucuronic acid unit is the endocon.
