Exotoxin

A toxic substance secreted by bacteria into their surroundings, capable of causing damage to host cells or disrupting normal cellular metabolism. These proteins are highly potent and specific in their action, often targeting particular cell types or biochemical pathways. Examples include botulinum toxin and tetanus toxin.
