Tetanus toxoid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011899
A detoxified form of tetanus toxin that retains its antigenicity but loses its toxicity, used as a vaccine to induce active immunity against tetanus. The toxin is typically inactivated by treatment with formaldehyde. Vaccination with tetanus toxoid stimulates the production of antibodies that neutralize the active tetanus toxin, preventing the disease.
