Extremophiles
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004309
Microorganisms that thrive in environments considered extreme or hostile to most life forms, such as very high or low temperatures, high salinity, or extreme pH. These organisms have evolved unique biochemical and physiological adaptations to survive and grow under such conditions. Examples include thermophiles, halophiles, and acidophiles.
