Fragility index

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004635

A dimensionless parameter that quantifies the deviation of a supercooled liquid's viscosity from Arrhenius behavior as it approaches the glass transition temperature. It reflects the steepness of the viscosity curve on an Angell plot, with higher values indicating more fragile glass-forming liquids. The index typically ranges from 16 for strong glasses to over 100 for very fragile glasses.
