Ganglion cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004754

A neuron whose cell body lies in a ganglion, such as a sensory neuron in a dorsal root ganglion or a postganglionic neuron in an autonomic ganglion. The term is often used by itself for the retinal ganglion cell, the output neuron of the retina whose axons form the optic nerve. Dorsal root ganglion cells relay sensation from the body to the spinal cord.
