Gavage

A procedure for administering a substance directly into the stomach by means of a tube passed through the esophagus. In toxicology and pharmacology studies, this method is used for the precise oral dosing of liquid test substances or suspensions to experimental animals. The volume administered is carefully calculated based on the animal's body weight, typically in units of milliliters per kilogram.
