Tidal volume
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012057
The amount of air that moves into or out of the lungs during a single, quiet respiratory cycle of inhalation and exhalation. It represents the normal depth of breathing when the body is at rest. In a healthy adult human, this volume is approximately 500 milliliters per breath, which corresponds to about 6 to 8 milliliters per kilogram of body mass.
