Grazing incidence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005020
A condition in spectroscopy or surface analysis where electromagnetic radiation strikes a surface at a very small angle relative to the surface plane. This geometry maximizes the interaction of the radiation with the surface layers, enhancing sensitivity to surface-specific phenomena. Grazing incidence is commonly employed in techniques like X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy for surface characterization.
