Halohydrins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005083
Organic compounds containing both a hydroxyl group (-OH) and a halogen atom (F, Cl, Br, or I) on adjacent carbon atoms. These compounds are typically formed from the reaction of an alkene with a halogen in the presence of water. Ethylene chlorohydrin (2-chloroethanol) is a common example.
