Hemolytic anemia
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005200
A type of anemia characterized by the premature destruction of red blood cells, leading to a reduction in their circulating lifespan. This destruction can occur within the bloodstream (intravascular) or in organs like the spleen (extravascular). It results in a lower-than-normal red blood cell count and can be caused by genetic defects, autoimmune conditions, or certain medications.
