Hildebrand parameter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005304
A quantitative measure of the cohesive energy density of a material, often used to predict the solubility of one substance in another. It is defined as the square root of the cohesive energy density, which is the energy required to overcome intermolecular forces per unit volume. The parameter is expressed in units of (MPa)^0.5 or (cal/cm^3)^0.5.
